1. The Pikul Group is looking for graduate students with interest in soft robotics, self-assembly, energy, multifunctional materials, electrochemistry, and batteries.
Our group works on a mixture of problems in energy storage, energy conversion, and manufacturing as applied to a variety of applications, including robotics, batteries, and medicine. We are very interdisciplinary, with activities in electrochemistry, design and manufacturing, instrumentation and control, materials science, and mechanics. We are always recruiting top students in a wide variety of fields. If you are interested in joining the group please contact James Pikul via email with a description of your interests and experience and a copy of your CV.
Interested students should apply to the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where the Pikul Lab will be moving in 2023.
2. Post-doctoral scholars
We have an opening for post-doctoral scholar who has a background in organic chemistry and electrochemistry/batteries.
We are looking for exceptional candidates to work on 800+ Wh/kg energy density batteries for aviation, rail, and shipping. Join our international research effort and help us electrify the 6% of global CO2 emissions that cannot be reduced with current battery technologies. The work will be challenging, but success will be rewarding.
